Welcome to The Blethering Ant, a place of writing, music, photos and other frivolities. There won’t be much that’s serious, but you never know. Keep looking. It might be in there somewhere.
Oh right – who am I? I’m a Gabriola Island based singer, musician, entertainer, writer of comic songs, parodies, autobiographical yarns and goodness knows what else besides. I know that photo’s a bit old but I promise you, I haven’t changed a bit. Like Old Bushmills, soda farls, Irish Stew and Veda, I was “made in Northern Ireland”, but I’ve been in BC since 2001. Why would a person stay away from home so long? Did she lose her door key? Look around…

About the Antinotes blog:
In 2015 a friend and I were discussing the ants we’d seen around our houses, and I wrote in an email:
“…As regards my own wee visitors of the last few days there is good news and not so. It was a carpenter ant, that’s the not so good news! The good news – yesterday I was missing my daily ant. No visitation. We hope that it was going back to its colony (not in my house please) to report that ‘that thar darned cafe has no food!’” And… “Doesn’t that sound like the title of a newsletter or something? Or a daily column in a newspaper? ‘The Daily Ant’.” And so I decided to write one.
“The Daily Ant – your very own weekly newspaper. It isn’t a newspaper, it isn’t weekly, or daily, and has nothing to do with ants. Well not much, anyway.”
It did appear on Shaw’s free webspace for a while, until they put an end to free webspaces (hmm too many ants?). So the Ant has been in hibernation ever since, but it tells me it will be making occasional appearances on “Antinotes”. The management like to retain the element of surprise. So check back when you can for new entries. You know it makes sense!
