Brussel sprouts roasting on an open fire

I did it, I did it! I made it through Christmas without mentioning brussel sprouts! Oh right, I just mentioned them. But then you have to, don’t you? I mean Christmas would hardly be Christmas if you didn’t at least mention brussel sprouts. I love them now, but in our family we used to call…

Quantum mechanics for cats

On my travels reading about black holes I was introduced to Shrödinger’s Cat, and find myself wondering how the cat felt about being simultaneously alive and dead? Did anyone ever ask it? About The Daily Antinote

What’s all this about ants then?

In 2015 a friend and I were discussing the ants we’d seen around our houses, and later I wrote in an email to her:

…As regards my own wee visitors of the last few days there is good news and not so. It was a carpenter ant – that’s the not so good news! The good news – yesterday I was missing my daily ant. No visitation. We hope that it was going back to its colony (not in my house please) to report that ‘that thar darned cafe has no food!’” And… “Doesn’t that sound like the title of a newsletter or something? Or a daily column in a newspaper? ‘The Daily Ant’.” And so I decided to write one.

“The Daily Ant – your very own weekly newspaper. It isn’t a newspaper, it isn’t weekly, or daily, and has nothing to do with ants. Well not much, anyway.”

It did appear on Shaw’s free webspace for a while, until they put an end to free webspaces (hmm too many ants?). So the Ant has been in hibernation ever since, waiting for the proper time to make a comeback. It has agreed to a limited number of appearances here courtesy of the Kick-Ass Frass Tal-Ant Agency.

Antinotes and other notes

It’s not only ants that will be skidding around these pages. The management like to retain the element of surprise. So check back when you can for new entries. You know it makes sense!
